Why not start to write creatively?

Ballyfermot Writers’ Group (adults)

Meets every second Wednesday in Ballyfermot Library, Room 4.

From 6.30 p.m. – 7.45 p.m. New members welcome. From beginners to advanced.

Next meeting: Wednesday 1st November  2017

How it Works:

Unholster your pencil and write creatively on the spot to a bespoke, tinselled prompt given out on the night. Then read what you’ve written to the group for lavish praise, iridescent bouquets and international awards  🙂 Or bring pre-prepared writing along and read that if you wish. The choice is yours.

For more details contact: eric.earwig@yahoo.com or ballyfermotlibrary@dublincity.ie

Or just turn up on the night with your own pencil.

Choctaw nation I am in your debt
Choctaw nation I just want to thank you
Choctaw nation I got so upset
When I learned of your wisdom and your virtue

I am sorry for that evil man, I feel shame
That he came from my country
I am sorry for that Sheridan
And the other tools used in colonies

You were halved on the trail of tears
In the wintertime of the year
Had to leave Nanih Waiya
For the cold Oklahoma

Well you lay down upon the road
Tired and hungry and freezing cold
Thousands died on the rough terrain
Food and blankets they never came

You sent money you could not afford
You were touched by Irish people’s suffering
And your brave example struck a chord
Now the Irish are so good at giving
Choctaw nation, thank you.

Tea in the Sahara
My sisters and I
Have this wish before we die
And it may sound strange
As if our minds are deranged
Please don’t ask us why
Beneath the sheltering sky
We have this strange obsession
You have the means in your possession
We want our tea in the Sahara with you
We want our tea in the Sahara with you
The young man agreed
He would satisfy their need
So they danced for his pleasure
With a joy you could not measure
They would wait for him here
The same place every year
Beneath the sheltering sky
Across the desert he would fly
Tea in the Sahara with you
Tea in
